More Tsums using “From Japan”!!

(by popular demand, I’m reposting this, my latest order is seen here!!)

I already talked about how buying Tsum Tsums from eBay can be risky, so I wanted to offer an alternative. What if your favorite character is only available from the Japan Disney Store? For a while now, I’ve been using a shopping service called From Japan.

*** Note: I bought these products on my own and was not paid or compensated. These opinions are my own. I have included an affiliate link where you get bonus points and so do I. ***

How does it work?

  1. Create an account
  2. On the right hand side, click the “Shopping” radio button.
  3. Select “Other Sites”
  4. In another window, open the Japan Disney Store or Japan Disney Tsum Tsum Store. Generally, your browser will ask if you want it to translate and that always helps.
  5. Go to the page for the item you want and then copy the link.
  6. Paste it into the From Japan Item URL box and name the item.
  7. Add all the items you want from the Disney Store.
  8. They then review and lump the items and in about a day or two you’ll get a total amount to pay including fees. This is payment 1.
  9. Once the items are shipped from the Japan Disney Store to From Japan’s warehouse, you’ll get a second invoice for the shipping to your country. This is payment 2.
  10. Your items arrive! YAY!

Notes and exclusions:

  • This does not work for park specific items, just items in the disney store. Also the items must be in stock. It also won’t work on items that are released and then sell out immediately
  • There are a number of fees. You can estimate them here. The prices are a little higher now than when I first posted because Disney Store Japan raised their prices. You can get them for ~$8.50 USD each these days.
  • Obviously, ordering one or two small items will NOT be cost effective. Lump your items together as much as possible or go in with a friend. The fees would be totally disproportional if you only spent a little bit at once.
  • It might take a while. It has to be shipped twice so don’t do this if you’re in an extreme hurry. I think the total process was about 2.5 weeks.

Let me know if you have any questions or if you have good or bad experiences with From Japan

Christmas Tsum Tsums Spotted at US Disney Stores!

I was fortunate enough to find the holiday or Christmas Tsum Tsum boxed set at my local Disney store in Texas. They weren’t exactly out on the floor yet, but I very politely asked the cast member if they had gotten them in and the cast member got me one from the back!! They should be in all stores and online next Tuesday (November 3) for Tsum Tsum Tuesday.

Some people have asked me on social media if I think they will be available as separates, but my guess is that they will only be a boxed set this year.

I’m getting so excited about Tsum Tsum Tuesday next week! So far we’ve seen the Megas in the store as well as the Christmas boxed set. On Tuesday we should see the Frozen Fever Carrieer / Bag and the Peter Pan set of 10 (!!) Hooray!

Mega Tsum Tsums Seen in US Disney Stores

Mega (or XL) Tsum Tsum Minnie and Mickey have been seen in Disney Stores across the United States. The Mega Tsums are $99.95 retail, but I cannot stress enough how HUGE they are and how incredibly soft they are. There is a picture below that shows the comparison between a Mega, Large, Medium and Mini. You can see just how giant the Mega is.

I think the Mega would make a great reading pillow / almost a beanbag chair for kids 🙂 Also coming out soon in the subscription boxes is the small size, which will be between the mini and medium sizes.

Shanghai Tsum Tsums Arrived!

Months back, a gold set was rumored for the opening of the flagship Shanghai Disney Store. Rumor is that there were some production delays, so they just appeared a couple weeks ago. I used one of my favorite buyers and got the set from Shanghai and they just arrived! They’re really cute and an interesting addition to the collection.

The gold elements of the plush are almost a pleather (fake leather) type material and the embroidery says “Shanghai”

Commercially Available Tsum Tsum Cases

In my last post, I talked about creating my own custom Tsum Tsum cases. Now, I know that many of you don’t have access to a laser cutter 😉 and I haven’t figured out the economics of selling my cases yet so I wanted to present a few options that are out there to buy commercially.

One option is an acrylic case designed for dicast racecars. It’s available on Amazon and holds two rows of 5 Tsums, stacked on one another for a total of 10 Tsum Tsums. This one also works great for the Alien Rocket Set!

Another option is an acrylic case intended for collectible cereal boxes (wheaties). It holds either 24 or 28 Tsums depending on how you orient them. A picture of my Tsums in this case is below. This is also available on Amazon. The box is a little tricky to open at first, but you get used to it.

One final option is a plush display from The Container Store linked here.

Homemade Acrylic Tsum Tsum Cases!

I wanted a new display case for my Wolf and Three Little Pigs Tsum Tsum set so I decided to make one myself! I went to MakerCase and made up some designs, that I then edited a bit.

I had some leftover clear acrylic (the 2-Tsum and 8-Tsum use 1/8″, the 4-Tsum is 3/8″) that I cut on the laser cutter, and then I used acrylic cement to glue together all the sides. I left the top open so I can open them up. It’s still a pretty solid case, but eventually I’d like a design with a latch or some sort of closure. Let me know if you have any good ideas!
